Bow low, you cowards

Donald Trump is a killer clown. An ill dressed, garishly painted caricature who has shown time and again that he is capable of the stupidest kinds of destruction.

Because of his petulant hatred for every Obama-era policy, he pulled the US out of the Iran nuclear deal, which eventually led to a war that will most certainly set Iran on a path to developing nuclear weapons as fast as they are able. He launched a documented campaign of retribution against hundreds of individuals and organizations who opposed him. He threatened sitting members of Congress with death penalties for criticizing him. His ICE henchmen have shot 34 people since January 2025, killing 9, and they have illegally detained 170 American citizens. People have been deported to foreign prisons in defiance of court orders.

He’s done all this with the grace and tact of a carnival barker, cheering when his opponents suffer or die, responding to every criticism by attacking the accusers rather than refuting the accusations. He flails like a guilty person, every time, and he always has. Even before politics. From the 1973 Justice Department lawsuit over housing discrimination to the 60 Minutes interview on April 26th, Trump’s pattern is always the same; he denies every accusation by attacking the accuser, then attributing the accusation to some imagined hostility towards him.

If this were literally anyone else, they would be dismissed as criminally insane by everyone who heard them speak. No one would be giving them the benefit of the doubt or treating their behavior as anything other than the result of a defect. And there damn sure would be no claims of their being ordained by any god.

Yet the media, the one institution that is supposed to be unafraid to speak truth even when it offends power, has failed us utterly by prostrating themselves before him. His face is painted a lurid orange on purpose, he’s doing a ridiculous Two-Tug-Jig in an oversized suit, and they actually fucking bow before the contemptible sack of offal. It’s a sick, pathetic joke.

Where is the one person with a stiff enough spine to tell him, in person, that the orange shit he smears all over his face looks ridiculous? That attacking the accuser does not disprove an accusation? That innocent people let the facts come out with dignified confidence rather than flailing like a child who just broke a valuable vase and is desperate to avoid consequence?

No one, apparently. How far we’ve fallen, Doc.

Media in the 21st century has prioritized engagement over truth. It’s not about the honest article or well-aimed editorial, but rather the amount of likes and comments they can get on social media. The name of today’s game is attention, not accuracy. A media apparatus that has chosen engagement and ad revenue over truth is, as my dad used to say, useless as tits on a fish. One might look at such a brazen departure from integrity and say “Shame on them,” but choosing social media engagement over real honesty shows they left shame behind a long time ago.

If Duce Trump threatens to suspend a broadcast license because he’s deep in his infantile feelings over the content of a news story, then the cowards will never run the story again. Those Amazon, Chevrolet, and online betting ads keep the lights on after all, and the owners are right there to reinforce that whorish business model with immediate firing and disgrace for all who have too much dignity to walk the line.

The most horrible part of wholesale media submission to Trump; appeasement never works. If you think it does, go ask Neville Chamberlain. Appeasement shows the bully that bullying works, so he goes right on doing it when what he really needs is a swift right hook to the jaw.

Half-measures, comedy, and social media engagement are not going to cut it. Until someone is ready to crush his ego beyond repair, to his face and without fear, we are doomed.
